NEW: Outdoor Qi Gong Classes

Every Friday evening 7:30pm to 8:10pm weather permitting, during the spring, summer, and extending slightly into the fall season. Each session is approximately 45 minutes and will be held on the east side of the field behind the Patriot Center building. Our intention is to create a consistent, accessible opportunity for community members to engage in gentle movement and mindfulness in a peaceful outdoor setting.

Qi Gong, often described as “meditation in motion,” combines gentle movement, breathwork, and focused awareness, making it appropriate for individuals of all ages and abilities. Traditionally, Qi Gong has been practiced outdoors to align the body with the natural environment, and modern research supports this approach. Time spent in green space has been shown to improve mood, reduce stress, and enhance overall well-being, making the outdoor setting an important component of the practice.

A growing body of research supports the benefits of these practices. Studies on Qi Gong and related modalities, such as Tai Chi, have shown improvements in balance, flexibility, and overall physical function, along with reduced fall risk. Research published in BMC Complementary Medicine and Therapies also demonstrates reductions in stress, anxiety, and depression, as well as improvements in overall quality of life. Additional studies suggest these practices may positively influence immune function and help regulate inflammation, contributing to long-term health and resilience.
